Antibacterial and Antifungal Activities of Pyroligneous Acid

The study evaluates the antimicrobial effects of pyroligneous acid derived from Eucalyptus urograndis and Mimosa tenuiflora. It demonstrates significant antibacterial activity against multi-drug-resistant bacteria like Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, as well as antifungal effects against Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans. These findings support the potential application of pyroligneous acid as a natural antimicrobial agent in agriculture, veterinary medicine, and food preservation.
