The study conducted over 9 months on a dairy farm in South Australia investigates the systemic impacts of biochar-supplemented feed on dairy cows. The research highlights that feeding biochar to cows enhanced milk production, improved soil and manure quality, and increased plant nutrient availability. Notably, the application of biochar-infused manure to soil demonstrated positive changes in soil fertility, notably in the availability of phosphorus and nitrogen, suggesting a beneficial cycle that enhances both agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability. Further research is suggested to understand the broader implications under varying farm conditions and climatic changes.
